Parents. Yes we all have them believe it or not. I’m going to let you in on a little secret, they do the things they do because they love you. I know, crazy right? We all think they are out to get us when actually they are trying to help us. Let me play you a scenario. Your friend asked you to spend the night. You know that there is going to be something that may be wrong such as drugs, alcohol, or even boys/girls. You ask your mom and she says no. You get really upset and just hate the world right? She said no because she was a teenager at one point and knows what is happening. Your mom? A teenager? Yes, she was a teenager and doesn’t want you to make the same mistakes she did. She wants you to be that perfect kid even when you know your not. Lets face it, who is? In fact, we are far from it. Well back to the scenario. You start saying “Everyone else mom is letting them!” or “Why cant you just be like all the other moms!” Don’t deny it, we’ve all been there. Here is some tips and tricks to maybe help this situation:
*Nip it in the butt before hand.
– If you know its a bad idea say no. This is really hard but I have faith in you.
*Try not to get upset.
-The word no is so powerful, especially when its from a parent. Try to calm you anger and put yourself in their shoes.
*Make different plans.
– Call another friend. Hang out with someone who your parents wouldn’t mind. You can have just as much fun.
*Remember they love you and only want whats best for you.
– This may hurt your pride a bit but its all going to work out. This isn’t the end of the world.
This takes practice. It wont just happen in a day or even a week. Have patients and you will see a difference. You have the power to choose how smooth or rocky your life goes. Be confident. Leave me a comment and I will talk to you guys next time.
